Royal Rehab is a rehabilitation and disability support provider, helping individuals who experience serious injuries or illnesses to recover their health and quality of life. With state-of-art facilities and a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, lifestyle counsellors and volunteers, Royal Rehab's clients participate in sports, physical therapy and other services that help them adapt and thrive.
"The updates to our endpoint security solution weren't really covering all the bases," says IT Support Officer at Royal Rehab, Ben Laxton. Systems were especially susceptible to CryptoLocker. "We had lots of devices out in the field, so one device might be protected but another would not be. There were some outbreaks, which we took very seriously."
Around the time that Ben began the search for a new endpoint security solution, he attended a breakfast security seminar hosted by IT services firm, Huon IT. When the presenter touched on Webroot, an agile, cloud-based web security solution, Ben's interest was piqued.
"The presentation immediately caught my attention," Ben says. "I knew I had a big bill coming to renew our existing anti-virus solution, so I started researching Webroot immediately. It turned our to be a much better product for us, because we needed something more lightweight and that could dynamically update from the cloud."
Ben got in touch with Huon IT to help deploy the new solution. "Working with Huon IT was excellent from day one," Ben says. "They helped us design an efficient solution. They're knowledgeable. In my experience working with other IT companies, sales staff and even account managers often don't have much technical experience.
That wasn't the case with Huon IT. It was a breath of fresh air to be able to make one call and have a conversation with someone who knows what's going on right away."
Because of their reputation for delivering world-class rehabilitation and disability support, Royal Rehab has grown into a thriving organisation with a large, distributed team. This, of course, can create complexities for the IT department.
One such complexity was their endpoint security solution. "The updates to our endpoint security solution weren't really covering all the bases," says IT Support Officer at Royal Rehab, Ben Laxton. Sytems were especially susceptible to CryptoLocker. "We had lots of devices out in the field, so one device might be protected but another would not be. There were some outbreaks, which we took very seriously."
In addition, their older endpoint security platform often disrupted a routine data export they needed to keep their patient records up to date. At one point, they discovered that their anti-virus software caused them to miss thousands of records every time they ran the export. They knew it was time for a serious upgrade.
Collaborative work with Royal Rehab to provide a comprehensive strategy, for how to best implement Webroot in their existing environment.
A full project plan, that included all the steps, frameworks, and actions required to deploy the solution in a seamless, efficient way.
Through testing, where Webroot was deployed to a limited number of endpoints and users alongside and users alongside the old antivirus software. Once the tests were successful, they moved to full deployment using an automated process that removed all legacy anti-virus software and installed Webroot SecureAnywhere Business.
More efficient endpoint security solution, requiring fewer resources, RAM, and energy to keep it functioning
Real-time document/ file scanning and reporting
Small footprint, thanks to cloud-based solution
Data export issue caused by previous anti-virus software was completely resolved
Licensing costs considerably lower, saving Royal Rehab an estimated $40,000 over a three-year period
Deployed alongside old anti-virus solution
